Iceland is fascinating. The largest of the volcanic islands has a perfume of the creation of the world, surrounded by natural scenery of breathtaking beauty. Sumptuous glaciers, gigantic waterfalls, fumaroles, geysers... Everywhere the earth exults with a hectic and generous geological life, offering the Icelanders an inexhaustible and ecological source of energy: geothermal energy.

From the Middle Ages onwards, the island appeared to be a worrying and frightening place: logically, it was the place of the mouths of hell and Jules Verne set his novel Journey to the Centre of the Earth there. At the same time, fishing campaigns were developed to catch cod in the tumultuous Icelandic waters.

When courageous fishermen left the Breton coast, they discovered another hell, this one maritime. This island, for them, had a name: Hell Island. From this not so distant past, there remain cemeteries, wrecks and a little-known and moving story in a country with a grandiose setting.
