Ever since he began traveling around Scotland, and now that his daughter has settled there, the author has never ceased to feed his books with his observations and experiences. Since, as Hugo wrote, "History is heard at the gates of legend", his books intersect the tragic history of this country with hair-raising fantasy.
Thus Le Sang d'Ossian, Morvenn Editions (2018), is a detective story that recounts in its own way some of the bloody episodes of the Highlands, and La Green Lady, Morvenn Editions (2019) is a tragedy inspired by two castles near the town of Wick in Caithness.
On a lighter note, her latest novel "Dévalisée", Hello Editions (2023), offers an offbeat approach to the country as it evokes, through the "eyes" of a small suitcase and the eventful journey it makes from La Rochelle to the Shetland Islands, the beauty of the places and the mysteries that surround them.
The author invites the public to an "encounter" with these themes and the way in which the supernatural feeds his writing.
Éric BERTRAND teaches Lettres Modernes at a secondary school in La Rochelle, while pursuing his narrative and theatrical work.
