After several years apart, Camille and Perdican, who have loved each other since childhood, meet again at the Baron's château. Father of the young man and uncle to Camille, the Baron plans to marry them off.
However, Camille, recently returned from the convent, distrusts men and prefers to devote herself to God. Wounded, Perdican seduces Rosette, a young peasant girl, to make Camille jealous. Driven by their own pride,
Perdican and Camille play a cruel game from which the naive young peasant will never recover. The characters learn the hard way just how dangerous banter can be.
A cult play about the flames of the heart and the ravages of pride.
