Châtelaillon by bike : a trip between sea and marsh !

Less car means more adventure in Chatelaillon! Greener, more practical and more friendly, we adopt the bike to discover the resort on the nature side. Inflate the tires, buckle up the backpacks and embark on one of our 2 beautiful marked routes between sea and marsh. Whether you are a seasoned pedalist or a cyclist with your nose to the wind, there is a route for everyone in Chatelaillon!

From the waterfront to the hinterland

The charm of Chatelaillon is far from being limited to its beach! A few pedal strokes are enough to get away from the city for an afternoon and discover new unsuspected treasures. Old stones, superb viewpoints and preserved surroundings: secrets that we love to share with you!
The passionate cyclists of the association Châtel à vélo have concocted a beautiful circuit around the resort, from the freshness of the sea front to the character of the hinterland. 23 km, 7 stages and as many nice memories to collect on the road.

The different stages of your ride:

# 1. Departure on the northern beach of Chatelaillon
Raise your eyes! Well hidden behind the pines, you can see the fort of Saint-Jean built in 1812 and its square towers.
# 2. Head for the marina!
Straddle your two-wheeler to ride along the peaceful promenade that borders the large beach. Take a break at the marina to contemplate the view on the 3 kms sand châtelaillonnais. There is a taste of freedom in the air…
# 3. In the heart of the Boucholeurs village
Continue your stroll on the side between land and sea in the direction of the authentic Boucholeurs village. Greet the producers, taste a few fresh oysters and settle down to admire one of the most beautiful viewpoints on the island of Aix and the Fort Enet.
Did you know that? Boucholeurs comes from bouchot, these large parks intended for the multiplication of the mussels!

# 4. We take out the checkered tablecloth.
We abandon the sea to immerse ourselves in the nature that surrounds Chatelaillon. Are your stomachs rumbling? It’s time to unpack your basket. Put down the backpacks and put your feet under the table on the landscaped picnic area of Voutron.
# 5. Watch the birds
After making the reservations, we preserve! The League for the Protection of Birds (LPO) invites you to its observation post to admire the exceptional fauna of the nature reserve up close… And who knows, you may see little storks just out of their shells?
# 6. A detour through Thairé
Resume your walk through the countryside and stop for a few moments in Thairé, a preserved Charente village and discover its 14th-century fortified church.
# 7. Head to Saint-Vivien
End your escapade with the charm and gentleness of the small commune of Saint-Vivien before completing your tour. Direction Châtelaillon!
